This is a style that evolved from having a regular home and a beach house. Homeowners would bring down unwanted or extra furniture to the beach house. There was usually a mix-match of pieces and items found at garage sales and flea markets.
The beach house wasn't for expensive, but comfortable and relaxing furniture. The type you could put your feet up on and watch the ocean which was usually slipcovered sofas and upholstered and wicker pieces. The slipcovers made it easier to clean due to wet suits and sand. The colors are from the sea
This style brings back the feel of the old west. A time when living was simpler and everything was hand made of natural materials. Leathers, suedes and patterned materials are used for sofas and chairs, while pine and wrought iron is used in furniture construction.
A relaxed vacation spot to fish and hunt. Located in the mountains and near rivers and streams. A place to commune with nature. Items in these homes are rustic and made of timber, leathers, willow branches and wrought iron. Materials are wools, quilts and cotton. The fireplaces are made of fieldstone and the ceilings usually have rustic beams. Fishing poles and rocking chairs are essential decor items in a lodge home.
