I feel that berber carpet can holdup to most traffic and children. Today's carpets are stain resistant (check with your local dealer) and the pile it short and tough. It vacuum cleans easier because of the short tufts.

As far as more appealing; I guess that would depend on what you are looking to accomplish. Let me know.

I don't particularly like how it looks, but I have heard many say that it is the easiest carpet to keep clean and new-looking. Any suggestions? I have young children so keeping carpet clean is a tough point in our home, but I also want carpet to look nice. Maybe there is a way I can decorate to make it seem more appealing (rugs, plants etc.).

As far as termites are concerned have your home inspected and then treated if necessary. But I would only worry about the structure when it comes to termites.

I found a few negative comments about it, but most comments I’ve seen are positive so I would agree that it’s a good choice. Despite all of this, I’m still a little bit worried about termite attacks.

There is no bleach we are aware of for removing stain since it penetrates deeply into the wood. The best best is to re-do the whole floor and have a room you will be happy with and will look great.
